Anyone who spends more than 32.7 seconds on my blog or who knows me personally knows that there is nothing I love more than a good deal. Moreover, the ultimate deal, free stuff! For years I would always get a free burger on my birthday from Red Robin. Then about five years ago I started getting serious about it. I researched and scoured the internet looking to find companies that offered the best “Birthday Gift” for its customers. Since then my entire family and I jumped on the birthday train. We all try to compete to see who can get the most free stuff for their birthday. There is nothing like getting literally hundreds of dollars’ worth of goods and services for 100% off! I have gotten deserts, entrees, movie tickets, popcorn, drinks, pastries and more without shelling out a dime!

It Is Not As Simple As Showing Up On Your Birthday

I got my first job as a busboy for a small Mexican restaurant. Later I got a job at Fuddruckers. Both companies would give a free birthday dessert. All someone had to do was say “It’s my birthday” a couple of decades later and the honor system is no longer the norm. In fact, the majority of the companies who offer a valuable birthday gift require you to either join some kind of rewards club or download their app. I know our phones have precious space and many of you have no desire to fill it up with apps for companies you only plan to visit once a year. Read on and find out how to get around that.

There Will Be Some Effort Required On Your Part

One thing that drives me crazy about people is they want something for nothing. Now I realize on the surface it would seem this entire blog post is about getting something for nothing but there is more to it than that. While the effort required is minimal for many people it is not worth the trouble. To them, I say……..more for us! The number one thing you need to do is sign up for birthday rewards BEFORE your birthday! The first couple of years I would wait till the day of or a couple of days before my birthday and miss out on those sweet birthday goodies until the next year. To maximize your birthday bounty, sign up for the birthday rewards a full month before your birthday or earlier. Something I have noticed is many of the companies will make your birthday gift available up to a full month of your birthday. If you sign up after the time the gift is automatically sent out then you miss it till the next year. Some of them wait till the day of your birthday and give you a week or two claim your gift, while some only make it available the day of your birth. Since different companies have different policies the way to cast the biggest net and catch the most “Fish” or birthday gifts, in this case, is to sign up as early as possible. Earlier I mentioned a workaround to the companies that require you to have their app to get access to their gift program which would take up precious space on your mobile device. So, all you need to do is sign up and download the app if required then delete it off of your phone until a couple of days before your birthday. Download the app again (Be sure to keep track of the user name and passwords for the various apps) I have done it the last few years and it has worked great. Before you say “How in the world am I going to remember all of these companies?” keep in mind virtually all of the companies send you an email letting you know your birthday gift has arrived and not all of them require an app. Many of them send you an email which you can either print out or show to the company using your mobile device.
